DSEK Calls for Data-Driven Academic Reforms to Strengthen Learning Outcomes
PARAKH PRS-2024 Dissemination Workshop Held at DIET Shopyan
Srinagar | 27 Dec 2025: The Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Mr. Nasser Ahmad Wani l, today underscored the need for data-driven academic reforms to enhance learning outcomes across schools while addressing the Dissemination Workshop of the PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan (PRS) 2024 Report held at DIET Shopyan, District Shopyan.
In his address, the DSEK described PARAKH as a flagship assessment initiative under the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020, aimed at shifting the education system from rote memorisation to competency-based, learner-centric education. DSEK, emphasised the importance of assessing students’ understanding of Mathematics and Social Science through real-life, practical applications, enabling learners to relate classroom concepts to their day-to-day experiences.
Highlighting the significance of evidence-based planning, the DSEK stated:
“PARAKH gives us a clear picture of classroom realities. Our collective responsibility is to translate assessment insights into concrete academic action so that every child benefits meaningfully,”

The workshop was attended by Joint Director School Education, Kishore Kumar; CAO, Directorate of School Education Kashmir, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Khanday; Chief Education Officer Shopyan, Bashir Ahmad Shah; Principal DIET Shopyan, Balbir Kumar; and Nodal Officer PARAKH J&K, Ghulam Hassan Reshi, besides Zonal Education Officers, Cluster Heads, Zonal Level Coordinators, and Heads of Institutions from across the district.
The programme concluded with a strong call for coordinated and sustained efforts among all stakeholders to transform classrooms into vibrant spaces of critical thinking, experiential learning, and academic excellence, with the broader objective of positioning Jammu and Kashmir as a leading educational hub in the country.
