Indoor Stadium Inaugurated at Ramgaie (Kalgaie) Uri: Government Assures Priority to Sports Infrastructure in Border & Far-Flung Areas.

Salamabad Uri:November 20, 2025 (JKBT): Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science and Technology, and Skill Training, Shri Satish Sharma, along with MLA Uri Dr. Sajad Shafi, inaugurated the newly constructed Indoor Stadium at Thaala, Ramgaie (Kalgaie). The facility is expected to significantly boost sports activities among the youth.
Speaking to the media and the general public, Minister Satish Sharma said that sports facilities in Tehsil Uri and its far-flung villages, especially those located along the Line of Control, have remained inadequate for years. He said the “Uri youth is talented but lacks proper infrastructure and playgrounds.”
MLA Uri Dr Sajad Shafi Uri highlighted that areas such as Ramgaie, Peernia, Sheeri, Chidiimadaan jhullah , Saraie , Or Chappar Shahdara ,and Mohra need dedicated sports stadiums to nurture and develop the talent of local youth.
MLA Uri Dr. Sajad Shafi stated that he has already submitted an ₹18-crore proposal to the Government of India for another major indoor stadium, for which land has been identified in Mohra. He assured that priority will now be given to both indoor and outdoor sports projects.
“This is the time our youth deserves modern platforms in every field,” he added.
He reaffirmed that modern sports facilities are essential to grow and nurture young talent.
The Minister also spoke about border tourism, announcing a new dedicated bus service to boost tourism in border areas. He acknowledged that these demands were earlier raised by MLA Uri Dr. Sajad Shafi Uri, and after reviewing the situation, he found them to be “genuine and the need of the hour for the border town of Uri.” He assured the public that these demands will be fulfilled soon.
